About Monique M. Barbour, MD: A Board Certified Ophthalmologist
Years of Excellence
Dr. Monique M. Barbour is a board-certified ophthalmologist and dedicated physician executive with an academic and clinical profile fulfilling administrative, academic, and clinical roles.
With over 30 years of clinical practice experience in ophthalmology combined with academic teaching positions, Dr. Barbour has performed thousands of procedures and brings a winning combination of board certification, surgical expertise, and compassionate patient care to the Lake Worth community.
Education
Dr. Barbour graduated with honors from Howard University College of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. Following residency, she completed a glaucoma fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where she received specialized training in advanced glaucoma management and micro-incision glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
Dr. Barbour also holds an Executive Master's Degree in Health Administration from Florida Atlantic University, combining clinical excellence with healthcare leadership expertise.
Extracurricular
Dr. Barbour currently serves as Councilor for the National Medical Association to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and holds the position of Brand Ambassador and Membership Chair for the NMA Ophthalmology Section. She is a Principal Investigator at Boehringer-Ingelheim, collaborating on cutting-edge retinal health research, and serves as a Key Opinion Leader for Sun Pharma. Dr. Barbour also serves on the advisory committee for the My Health My Eye program through the National Institutes of Health, National Eye Institute, and holds Associate Clinical Professor positions at Nova Southeastern University, Palm Beach State College, and Southeastern College.
Her commitment to service includes past leadership roles as Secretary of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society in Palm Beach County and as Chief Diversity Officer of the Florida Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the volunteer wing of the United States Air Force.
Certifications
Dr. Barbour is the recipient of recognition from the Palm Beach County Medical Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology for her humanitarian involvement in their Project Access and EyeCare America Programs respectively.
Dr. Monique M. Barbour is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a dedicated physician executive with over 30 years of clinical practice experience in ophthalmology combined with academic teaching positions.
Following residency, Dr. Barbour completed a glaucoma fellowship at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and received an Executive Master's Degree of Health Administration from Florida Atlantic University. She is the Medical Director of Clear Vue Eye Center in Lake Worth, Florida, where she practices comprehensive ophthalmology and participates in clinical trials. Dr. Barbour is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida and holds surgical privileges at Palm Beach Outpatient Surgery Center, Riverwalk Surgical Center, and South County Outpatient Surgery Center.
Care Beyond the Clinic
Dr. Barbour's passion for giving back extends far beyond the exam room. She is the Founder and CEO of The Smiles and Vision Foundation, a non-profit organization she created in 2010 to tackle healthcare disparities in education. Through this foundation, Dr. Barbour provides vision care and education to disadvantaged individuals, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of sight-saving treatment.
As both a physician and a counselor, Dr. Barbour has dedicated her career to not only treating eyes but also mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals and serving underserved communities. Her work reflects a deep commitment to health equity, education, and access to care for all.
Dr. Barbour treats patients of all ages and makes a special effort to connect with her diverse patient base. Trilingual in English, Spanish, and French Creole, she ensures that language is never a barrier to quality eye care in the multicultural Lake Worth community.

Dr. Barbour enjoys traveling to around the world with her family, playing the acoustic guitar and tennis. Her legacy is The Smiles and Vision Foundation which was created to educate others and treat disadvantage persons with vision related issues.
